After a quick read of "HyperOffice" I think their pro's and con's are mis-leading. This entire article is based off the fact that google charges for more than 50 people. So if you have less than 50 people in your office... please read on. If not, well I still don't buy it but their math begins to hold up a bit better.
I have set up tons of Google Apps accounts and the cost is only that of a the domain for the small business account (50 users). The only setup is to upload a file and edit your mx records. So I think the $5K cost is actually pretty hilarious as there is no recurring cost at all for less than 50.
Just keep in mind that if you have less than 50 employees you can have google apps set up for free. No recurring cost at all. It is a great place to start if you are just trying out some of these technologies.
